This morning I was woken up at around 6 by my dog Daku..he had his front paws on my bed (not allowed on my bed..so..technically he was not on my bed).. and was cuddling up to me. But it was the wrong side of the bed!! He normally cuddles from the longer side of the bed..but today was the closer side..right in my face.
Loved it..much bonding.
And then realized he had messed up in my room!! An abnormality!!
Asked Daku who messed up..have another dog too..Thug..and he wagged his tail! Knew it was him..but loved his attitude. He knew that I knew that he would only mess up under dire circumstances!! The tail still wagged..
He is the most amazing dog to have come into my life..and I have had quite a few amazing dogs.
My good luck to be born to parents that loved dogs and still do.It rubbed off on me and my siblings..and fortunately the next generation too.My son Siddharth loves dogs.
But to come back to Daku..
He was bought initially..some 7 years ago for my parents. Kept him to housebreak him..and at the end of it my son Siddharth decided that we would keep him. Too attached by then!! C'est la vie :-)
Over the years he has had a myriad of problems..from his foot getting jammed in a collapsible lift door..to cancer..and everything in between!! Yes..he has a cancer for which he was operated on and now seems to be well. And he has borne his problems with never a complaint..and made sure that we had no reason to complain too!! A Hero!
A Gentle Dog..amazing with people..and with other dogs.
Thug..our other dog..came to us 2 yrs back..and Daku just adopted him. They were fascinating together..and still are. Best of buddies..but Thug has a sense of deference for Daku..a respect!
When Daku was brought back home on a stretcher after his cancer operation..Thug wondered what had happened? Realizing Daku's condition..he just sniffed him and then onwards never bothered him till Daku had recovered. No teasing him..no forcing him to play with him. He just knew that Daku was not well and kept his playfulness at a distance..but not his concern. He hovered..and smelt..and nudged..but never troubled Daku.
Today..they are still the best of friends..and Thug loves troubling Daku.
And Daku loves it too.. :-)
